Theres very few things I hate more than this modern obsession of comparing emerging players to already established or legends of the game. However I'll make one exception: darren fletcher. In him you have keano's drive, passion and will to win, in a package a lot more likeable, intelligent and capable of improving. I love his style, his intelligence, on and off the field, his love for United, passion for the game. Lets be honest, I think Im in love with him, without the physical part (ehem)
Do you see the keano - fletcher comparison a fair one? do you think he can become what keano was for United?

Well he sure has the time on his side to build a true cult status at the club. His ability too is perhaps there to build him into that type of role in the team. However as for a direct comparison I would have to say they are quite different. For one thing Fletcher is not such a knob to others and he plays the game a little smarter too.
The thing is he could reach the same level at the club as Keano was but really I think he will have his own twist and will build his own status at the club with no need to make comparison to anyone else.

The fact that we are even comparing him in the same class as Keano means that he has become a massive player for us in the last 2 seasons.. I remember clearly how Keano himself said that darren was not good enough to wear the utd shirt & look at him now.. def first name on the managers team sheet.. darren has been excellent, may be the only thing that i would want to see more, is been more animated when he plays... like the way keano was arguing & telling players what they are doin right or wrong.. whatever it is in darren we have a world class player & i mean real world class...
