Danny Welbeck in loan switch to Preston North End

Well the Hero in the Carling Cup game against Wolves earlier in the season, Mr. Danny Welbeck has made loan switch to Preston North End for the remainder of the season. Welbeck has been on the fringes of the first team at United all season long but Sir Alex has aloud the young striker / winger to move on loan to Preston to gain more regular first team football and to help out his son (Darran) who has just taken over as manager at Preston.

article:
Welbeck heads to Preston

Good idea or not? it really does seem like a favour from SAF to his son, well to me at least it seems.

I think it's a good move.
Darren Ferguson is a good manager, he couldnt fail to be really.
Welbeck needs the first team football.

Well thats interesting that you say that Claire because it complety contradicts what Fletcher said earlier this season about youth development at the club FMU Article Link. Fletcher seems to say that 1 game at United is worth more than 20 games at a smaller club, such as Preston would fall into that catagory.

Any comments on that?

The fact is that with us being out of the FA Cup and only the Carling Cup semi second leg and hopefully the final left, he's not really going to get any games at United with Diouf appearing to have totally blown away the competition from the other youngsters. With Rooney, Berbatov, Owen and Diouf all ahead of him I think its good for him to get some game time at Preston where Fergie will also have some sort of power I'm sure about how his son, Darren, goes about Welbeck's development and training.

Every now and then, not very often but it happens, you catch a glimpse of
a world that doesn't stop in May and begin again in August.

Ah all good points Shaun. I especially agree with you about the control through his son being a major catalyst for this move. And you are right about Diouf, it seems as soon as he has come everyone has now forgotten about Welbeck and Mechada and the like. But the truth of the matter is that Diouf has only played a handful of games for the club while Welbeck has been around the players alot longer. We still have no real gage to measure Diouf on and if he turns out to not fulfil the current hype then this move might seem a little brash.

Hes already doing very well and the fans love him. If he puts the work, and thats a big IF for young english players who think they're better than they really are, he could be a star. A big one, he has all the talent to be a success at United.

Matty James has also gone there, he''s sort of promising as well, not in danny's league by any means, but could be a good midfielder if he keeps improving.

haha that is so true. They get built up at such a young age now that often they fail to live up to expectations simply because they get complacent and cocky. Danny Sturridge is one such player that springs to mind.
